Nicolas and Angela’s coffees stand out on pretty much any cupping table; that's why we've established a long term partnership and invested in their farm. Every year we see the quality of their coffee get a little better and a little better. They produce washed, honey, and natural process coffees and the high quality is always easily identifiable.  Their farm is named El Porvenir, and it is located in Jinotega, Nicaragua.  They have several children and 12 grandchildren. One of their daughters, Mireya, is taking over the farm in a multi-year transition so that her parents can work towards retirement.

We first came across this coffee at a public cupping with Gold Mountain Coffee during the 2023 SCA Expo.  This coffee immediately jumped out to us as a textbook example of what a “floral” coffee tastes like.  Super perfumy and sweet, we get the gamut: jasmine, rose, lilac, lavender and cherry blossom.  The sweetness reminds us of concord grape and ripe cherries.

We are now working directly with Gold Mountain to help build new infrastructure on El Porvenir to help increase their efficiency, sustainability, and to help grow profits from harvest. Starting in 2026, a portion of every bag sold goes to helping pay for new water reservoirs that we built on the farm. These reservoirs help give Nicolas, Angela, and Mireya peace of mind that they will have enough water to help them through the harvest season, which can demand quite a bit of water for processing. This is just the first step in what we hope will continue to be a longstanding partnership for many years to come.
